Effective August 7, 2026
Panther Gun Sales is a federally licensed Type 07 FFL operating as Twin Panthers Enterprises LLC out of Altoona, Pennsylvania. Everything below describes how we actually ship — no surprises at checkout.
The short version
- Firearms ship to a licensed dealer near you. Never to your door. That’s federal law and we run it by the book.
- Optics, mounts, parts and gear ship straight to your address. No transfer, no waiting.
- Ammunition ships separately from firearms and cannot go everywhere.
How a firearm purchase works
- You order the firearm here.
- You tell us the licensed dealer (FFL) you want it sent to. If you don’t have one, we’ll help you find one.
- We obtain and verify a copy of that dealer’s current license before anything ships. We cannot ship until we have it, and delays at this step are the single most common reason an order sits.
- The firearm ships to that dealer.
- You go to the dealer, complete ATF Form 4473, and pass the background check in person.
- You pay the dealer their transfer fee and take your firearm home.
Transfer fees are set by the receiving dealer, not by us. They are not included in your purchase price and we have no control over them. Ask your dealer what they charge before you order — they range widely.
Carriers and delivery
- Firearms do not ship via the U.S. Postal Service.
- Long guns generally ship ground. Handguns ship by air, as required by federal law.
- All firearm and ammunition shipments require an adult signature at delivery. Carriers are not permitted to leave them unattended, and they will not leave them with a neighbor.
- We do not ship firearms or ammunition to P.O. boxes.
- We ship within the United States only. No international orders, and no freight-forwarding services.
Orders that ship from more than one place
We fulfill from distributor warehouses rather than holding deep inventory ourselves — that is how we keep prices where they are. Two practical consequences:
- Your order may arrive in separate boxes, on separate days, from separate states. A rifle, a scope and a box of ammunition are three different shipments by rule, not by accident.
- Firearms and non-firearm products are processed as separate orders. Handguns and long guns also cannot travel in the same shipment.
Ammunition
- Ammunition ships ground only, packaged and marked per Department of Transportation rules for small arms ammunition.
- Ammunition never ships in the same package as a firearm.
- Several states require ammunition to be delivered to a licensed dealer or licensed ammunition vendor rather than to you directly, and some jurisdictions prohibit shipment entirely.
- We do not ship primers, powder, or other hazardous-materials components.
State and local restrictions — please read this part
State, county and city laws restrict which firearms, magazines, ammunition and accessories may be sold or delivered where. These laws change often and they are not uniform.
It is your responsibility to know and follow the law where you live. By placing an order you confirm that the item is legal for you to receive and possess at your delivery address.
We will not ship an item into a jurisdiction where we believe it is unlawful. If we identify a problem after you order, we will cancel that item and refund it in full. Common categories affected include magazine capacity limits, feature-based rifle restrictions, ammunition delivery rules, and roster or approval requirements for handguns.
If you are unsure whether something can legally ship to you, email us before you order and we’ll look into it with you.
Processing time
In-stock items typically leave the warehouse within one to three business days of a completed order — for firearms, that clock starts when we have your dealer’s license on file, not when you check out. Distributor stock is live but not instantaneous, and an item can sell out between your order and fulfillment. If that happens we’ll tell you promptly and refund in full.
Damaged, lost, or wrong deliveries
Inspect your shipment when it arrives. If a box shows damage, note it with the driver before signing where you can.
Contact us within 5 business days of delivery for anything damaged, missing, or not what you ordered, and keep all original packaging until the claim is resolved — carriers routinely deny claims without it. We’ll work the carrier claim with you.
For firearms, damage should be identified at your dealer’s counter before you complete the transfer. Once the transfer is complete the firearm is legally yours and the remedy becomes a manufacturer warranty claim rather than a return. See our Refund & Returns policy.
